Kybella

Understanding KYBELLA

KYBELLA® is a breakthrough non-surgical treatment offered at Paragon Skin & Surgery, designed to address submental fullness, commonly known as a “double chin.” This FDA-approved injectable treatment can help you achieve a more sculpted and youthful jawline without the need for surgery.

What is KYBELLA?

KYBELLA® is a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps break down and absorb body fat. When injected into the area under the chin, Kybella effectively targets and destroys fat cells, leading to a more contoured and refined jawline. Kybella offers a non-invasive alternative to surgical procedures for reducing submental fullness. There is typically minimal downtime after a Kybella treatment, allowing you to resume your daily activities. Once fat cells are destroyed, they cannot return, providing lasting results with proper maintenance.

How is
The KYBELLA Treatment Performed

Cleansing

The treatment area will be cleansed to remove any makeup or debris.

Numbing

A topical numbing cream or ice may be applied to the treatment area to enhance your comfort.

Marking

A surgical marker will be used to draw lines on the skin for a even injection process. Injection Process: Using a fine needle, the provider will administer a series of Kybella injections into the targeted areas of submental fat. The number of injections depends on the amount of fat being treated. Swelling, redness, and tenderness are common after Kybella treatment and may last for a few days to a couple of weeks. Applying ice can help alleviate these symptoms. While you may experience swelling initially, the full results become apparent over several weeks as the body naturally eliminates the treated fat cells. Up to six treatments may be performed with one month between treatments. Once the desired results have been achieved, no further treatment is necessary. Those cells can no longer store fat so the submental fullness will not return.

Kybella FAQs

The number of Kybella treatments required varies from person to person. Many patients see noticeable results after two to four sessions, spaced about one month apart. Your treatment plan will be discussed during your consultation to achieve your desired outcome.

Most patients experience mild discomfort during the Kybella injection process. However, a topical numbing cream can be applied before the treatment to minimize any potential discomfort.

Common side effects may include swelling, bruising, redness, and mild discomfort at the injection site. These side effects are typically temporary and resolve on their own.

Once fat cells are destroyed by Kybella, they cannot return. However, maintaining a stable weight is important to prevent the development of new fat cells in the treated area.
